Abstract

This research article aims to enhance the speaking skills of students who belong to the department of English. Based on the general observation, interaction and overall interviews among the students, it has been noticed that the students of English are good at the skills of reading, writing and listening while comparing to speaking. The challenges in speaking skills have to be improved and make the learners to feel confident by using numerous speaking activities which confidently stimulate them to communicate. The learners require one of the most impressive ground breaking methodologies, Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) to improve their speaking skills with self-confidence.

Around thirty students have been selected for Quasi-Experimental Study. Initially the researcher handled random cluster sampling method for taking the sample of 30 students from the final year of Under Graduation in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. From the selected group, it had been further divided as 15 in two separate groups such as control group and experimental group. Numerous tasks based on their curriculum had been assigned to the experimental group learners and they completed the same which evidently improves their speaking skills. The data of pre-test, post-test and personal interview had been collected for the research to analyze the major indicators of speaking skill such as the level of fluency, choice of words and usage of grammar.
